Shiela Plasencia is the Director of Practice Support at the Community Oncology Alliance (COA). In her role, she serves as a key connector among practice administrators, providing essential insights, strategies, and tools to optimize practice operations and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. She also leads the COA Administrators’ Network (CAN), a collaborative platform for practice leaders to share best practices and address the unique challenges facing the oncology community. In addition, she spearheads the COA Fellows Initiative and leads the COA Health Equity Committee, further advancing COA’s mission to support and enhance community oncology.
Prior to joining COA, Shiela served as the Director of Quality Improvement, Compliance, and Value-Based Care at Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute (OCSRI), a community oncology practice she joined in 2004. During her tenure, she successfully led OCSRI to achieve the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s QOPI Certification, distinguishing it as one of only two practices in Oklahoma to earn this recognition. Additionally, in 2016, she became actively involved with the Coalition of Hematology Oncology Practices (CHOP), where she served as president and board member until 2022.
Originally from California, Shiela holds a degree in Health Information Technology and currently resides in Jenks, Oklahoma.
