Doug Barefield

Doug Barefield serves as the Director of Industry Relations at the Community Oncology Alliance (COA). In his role, Doug unites stakeholders across the cancer care ecosystem to address shared challenges that impact patient treatment and care delivery. With extensive expertise in collaborating with biopharmaceutical manufacturers and oncology care solutions companies, he provides invaluable insights and leadership. His reach into, and understanding of, community oncology enhances COA’s mission to empower independent practices, ensuring patients receive high-quality, affordable cancer care close to home.

Before joining COA, Doug built an impressive career at Cencora, formerly known as AmerisourceBergen. He played a significant role in the ION Oncology Network, where he managed critical relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, extending his expertise to International Physicians Network (IPN), Cencora’s Specialty Physician GPO. This work supported practices in oncology, urology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, neurology, and ophthalmology. In this role, he was instrumental in building and strengthening partnerships with pharmaceutical companies of all sizes, advancing collaboration to support community-based care.

Originally from the Texas panhandle, Doug honed his skills in customer service, executive account management, sales leadership, and business development through leadership roles in the hospitality and travel management industries. He now resides in Plano, Texas.
