E&M Coding Webinar for 2020/2021 Changes

Published On: August 24th, 2020Categories: Webinars

Major changes are coming in 2021 for E&M coding. The changes reflect a significant departure from the traditional E&M 1-5 levels, with a new emphasis on workflow, coordination, communications, virtual communications, and by different members of the care team.

While we have known about these changes and started to suggest practices implement them this year, there are consistent findings that newer CPT codes for E&M services are underutilized and some are not understood. COA has found that most practices have not revised their workflows or procedures to identify and document key services, even though Medicare has been consistent regarding their goals to recognize these services. The remaining changes planned for 2021 are BIG and implementation will not be quick.

COA has initiated a major effort to prepare practices for the 2021 E&M coding changes. We have enlisted a multi-stakeholder team to assist with the communication, education, and efficient implementation of these new codes, including the production of a series of webinars, coding manuals, and other education.

On Thursday, September 10th, 2:00 pm ET coding guru Bobbi Buell will be joining COA to discuss the 2021 Medicare Preliminary Physician Fee Schedule where many of these E&M changes are detailed.

2021 will be a pivotal year for cancer care. Those planned changes and other important changes to telehealth, E&M, chemotherapy drugs, and more will be discussed during this webinar. You must register to participate.
