Frederick M. Schnell, MD, FACP, is the Chief Medical Officer at the Community Oncology Alliance (COA). In his role, Dr. Schnell brings a practicing physician’s perspective to the day-to-day operations of COA. He provides valuable insight into the clinical and administrative challenges faced by community oncology clinics and supports the development of new tools and initiatives to help COA members maximize the care they provide.

Prior to joining COA, Dr. Schnell was the founding physician at Central Georgia Cancer Care in Macon, Georgia, retiring after 34 years, where he also served as CEO. He has served as President of COA and the Georgia Society of Clinical Oncology and has served in multiple academic positions. He was named a Distinguished Cancer Clinician by the Georgia Cancer Coalition.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Schnell obtained his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University and completed his internship, residency, and Medical Oncology & Hematology fellowship at Emory University. Dr. Schnell currently still resides in Macon, Georgia
